Since this is the page I direct everyone to for details on this, let's get it out of the way first off.
If you're using Explorer and want to see our error pages, which redirect you to useful indexes if you hit a lost page, you can turn off the IE error pages in your browser. This may, in fact, make for a better web experience all over, not just here. Try under Tools--Internet Options--Advanced down to the little box that says "show friendly http error messages" and de-select it. Friendly, in this case, means devoid of actual information.
My page suites are done in Cascading Style Sheets, so Netscape or Explorer versions 4 and up are necessary for decent page rendering. You can go here to get Netscape or here for Explorer of recent vintage. Firefox (in fact any Mozilla browser) and Safari should be fine, having been designed with things like this in mind.
In addition, many of my pages have soundtracks. Since I disapprove of inflicting music on the unsuspecting, no matter how great I think the song is, all soundtracks are in the form of RealAudio files. Because I encoded all my RealMedia files with RealProducer Basic, they require RealPlayer version 8 or up to play. If you do not have RealPlayer (or, these days, RealOne), go here to download the latest version. All the files are optimized for 56 Kps, and so may stick a bit on older dial-up modems. Apologies for that, but the sound quality at 28 was atrocious. 56 is tolerable.
The layout of my pages is optimized for 800x600 to 1024x768 resolution.
If you experience problems viewing my sites that are fixable by me (as opposed to, say, your platform's software designers), please let me know so I can fix it.
Now for the more usual things you might find on an About page. Alltrees is the result of my ever-increasing collection of websites. When I finally broke 100 megs, I figured it was time to stop trying to coordinate across multiple accounts and consolidate. As a result, this site now houses all of my areas, Personal, Professional and Anime, not to mention Hybrid.
Why "Alltrees"? I'm fond of trees. I thought for a while about choosing a particular kind of tree to name the site with, but after a bit of cogitation it struck me that a big part of my goal with this configuration is inclusivity. Alltrees seemed appropriate.
My original concept, when I went to organize my then-rather-skimpy sites, was to at once separate my work into easily navigable categories so that people looking for my CV didn't get bogged down in my opinions on Sailor Moon and the people looking for my fanfiction vocabulary page wouldn't get lost in the Muses Gallery, and also to provide as much inter-connection between the areas as seemed feasible. Thus, Metahome and the crosslinks that appear on many pages.
Meta-. 1. Situated behind; for example, metacarpus. 2. Occurring later; for example, metazoan. 3. Beyond; transcending; for example, metalinguistics. 4. Changed or involving change; for example, metachromatism. 5. Alternating; for example, metagenesis. --American Heritage Dictionary.
Different sections of this site are copyrighted differently.
The Alltrees index page and most of the Personal section are under standard copyright, both text and images, with all rights reserved. No copying without permission, barring fair-use applications.
The Kimono pages, however, are under a Creative Commons Attribution, Noncommercial, Share Alike license. This means that the pages may be copied in part or full and the selections used unaltered or in derivative works, provided the selection is attributed to me by name and a link or url back to the original and is not used for commercial purposes
The Anime pages and the Professional area are under the Creative Commons Attribution, Noncommercial, No Derivatives license. This means that the pages may be copied in part or in full as long as the selection is not altered, is attributed to me by name and a link or url back to the original, and is not used for commercial purposes.
The exceptions to this are the background and illustrative images on the Anime pages that are screencaptures or scanned from artbooks. This includes the images on the Sailor Moon site (background, gallery and illustrations), the Rurouni Kenshin site (illustrations), the Digimon site (gallery and illustrations), the Fushigi Yuugi site (gallery and illustrations), the Trigun site (background), the Prince of Tennis site (background), the Bleach site (background), the Final Fantasy VII site (background), the Weiß Kreuz site (background) and the Gundam site (background and illustrations). Those images are, of course, entirely copyright of their respective artists. While I hold that the illustrative images fall under fair use for analytical purposes, the backgrounds and gallery images have only the excuse of common and communal fan activity and lack of commercial infringement.
At any rate, whatever you're here for, I hope you will enjoy your stay.
