This page is (always) under construction. Remember to wear your safety helmet.
This is where all my personal miscellany can be found. You know, the things that get posted to the web just because. Because it's early on in one's acquaintance with the Internet, and there's nothing better to do that day, and why not? That kind of because. Or because you're learning new html and want to show it off. Also that kind of because. Or because you need someplace to put these thoughts and don't want to contribute to the house fire-hazard quotient with a paper journal, and why not give the visitors something to think about. Also that kind of because.
Never say I didn't warn you.
For those who wish to move right along.
The homepage of my friend Jim, which has neat graphics and interesting writerly links.
Hot Bad Guys is the page of my SiL, Kate. Definitely my kind of site; I always like a story with a good villain.
The Internet Public Library, for which my spouse does librarianly work. It has huge collections ("So, what's your collections policy?" "To have everything worth having.") and very competent reference staff to field questions.
The FAQ of the alt.polyamory newsgroup, where the curious may be moderately enlightened and the prurient may be smacked around as they deserve.
For those in favor of freedom of information, The Smoking Gun offers both boring and interesting documents a la carte.
On the other side of the coin, The AFU and Urban Legends Archive notes persistent legendry.
I have included a refutation of the myth that humans only use ten percent of their brains, just because I was wondering about it a while back.
If you ever wanted to know the history of Crayola crayons, look at the Lost Crayola Colors Project. There's some fascinating stuff in there, and the author and I agree about the silliness of a lot of the name changes.
Some very entertaining computer-stuff articles can be found at electric pi, Washington Apple Pi's e-journal. To be sure, I find them a lot more entertaining since I've switched to Mac and no longer have to deal personally with MS BS.
This is where I stick the little essays, reflections, rants, etc. that don't quite belong in my list of articles for publication. Ramblings, miscellaneous notes to myself about life, ideas floating around loose--that's the kind of thing that goes under this heading.
Currently, we have mind games, word play, Tai Chi, a profile and a page for the so forths and so ons.
This category gets a lot of disparate stuff. It has my gallery of muses, that is my favorite authors, some poems by other people, some pondering on the work of J.K. Rowling.
I like kimono. But I happen to think that most of the Rules about how to wear them are absolute guff. This, combined with a wish to design kimono that were seasonally appropriate to my home, produced these pages.
Photos, music, quotes, herbs. Pretty self-explanatory, yes?
